Abstract (EN)
Since the beginning of the 19th century the Pieniny Mountains have attracted the attention of botanists. The authors of the earliest studies focused mainly on vascular plants. A little later, i.e. in the 1860s, bryological explorations began. Over almost 150 years, the hepatic flora of the Pieniny Mountains was quite well investigated. During that period 1 hornwort and 79 species of liverworts were identified. This monograph presents the results of research conducted between 2007 and 2017 in the Zachodnie, Centralne and Małe Pieniny Range in Poland and Slovakia. Data for analyses were collected at 221 sites. 2,755 samples were collected for a herbarium. All historical data on the occurrence of liverworts and hornworts in the Pieniny Mountains were compiled. As results from sci entific publications and original information, in total, there are 89 species of liverworts and hornworts in the Pieniny Mountains (85 in Poland and 65 in Slovakia). During the research 81 species of the aforementioned groups of bryophytes were documented.
