A Worrying Present and an Uncertain Future. Challenges for Security in Central and Eastern Europe Region
Abstract (EN)
Climate resilience is a global priority as climate change impacts—like extreme weather, rising sea levels, and resource scarcity—intensify. Renewable energy is key in mitigating these effects by cutting greenhouse gas emissions and supporting adaptive strategies. This article explores the relationship between renewable energy and climate resilience, focusing on decentralized systems, technology, and global partnerships as critical tools. It addresses economic barriers, public acceptance, and regulatory hurdles, presenting case studies on successful renewables integration. The need for international collaboration, education, and policy reform is emphasized to scale renewable energy and improve resilience in various regions. Future research directions highlight aligning energy strategies with climate forecasts and the water-energy-food nexus for a sustainable future.
