Abstract (EN)
Ultrasonography is an important part of the diagnostic management of patients with suspected liver and biliary disorders. According to the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR), and European Association of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (EAVDI), guidelines for standardization of abdominal ultrasound examination of dogs and cats, evaluation of the biliary tract should include assessment of the gallbladder and the extra- and intra-hepatic bile ducts. Due to the dynamic development of ultrasonography, the principles of assessing individual organs are evolving, both in terms of methodology and range of normal values. This article discusses the criteria for ultrasonographic evaluation of the gallbladder in dogs and cats, based on the current literature and the authors’ experience.
