Abstract (EN)
Introduction: The antioxidant properties of an infusion prepared from the selected mixture of plant raw materials recommended for lactation were examined. The influence of UVA radiation of the plant raw materials on neutralization of free radicals by their infusions was compare. Material and methods: The infusions of the nonirradiated and UVA irradiated mixture of fennel fruits, caraway fruits, aniseed fruit, lemon balm leaves, and chamomile flowers, were prepared. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy was used to determine their interactions with DPPH free radicals. Such dependencies were obtained for infusions from irradiated and non-irradiated raw materials. Results and discussion: EPR spectra of DPPH free radicals decreased with increasing of time of interactions of the tested plant infusions with free radicals, and then they did not change over time. As the interaction time increases, more and more free radicals are neutralized, followed by stabilization of the interactions. Conclusions: The tested infusion of complex plant raw material recommended for breastfeeding women neutralizes free radicals, which is reflected in the decrease of their EPR spectra. After UVA radiation of the plant materials the infusion stronger neutralizes free radicals.
