Abstract (PL)
Miasto dla ludzi. Zrównoważona mobilność w planowaniu przestrzennym to szerokie omówienie zależności pomiędzy polityką przestrzenną i transportową. Planowanie przestrzenne jest bezpośrednio powiązane z zachowaniami komunikacyjnymi ludzi. Rozwiązywanie problemów transportowych stoi u podstaw właściwie wszystkich stosowanych obecnie koncepcji urbanistycznych. W Polsce zbyt często te dwie dziedziny traktowane są osobno. Zrównoważony rozwój miast i regionów może mieć miejsce jedynie wtedy, gdy stworzone zostaną warunki do efektywnego i niskoemisyjnego przemieszczania się po danym obszarze. Takie podejście wymaga jednak często bardzo szerokiej współpracy na różnych szczeblach władzy i pomiędzy jednostkami o różnych kompetencjach. Właściwie zaprojektowany obszar, dzięki dostępności szkół, sklepów czy instytucji publicznych, nie wymusza na swoich mieszkańcach niepotrzebnych
podróży. Dzięki wnikliwemu planowaniu można skutecznie ograniczać powstawanie korków i tłok w pojazdach komunikacji miejskiej. Mieszańcy zyskują możliwości korzystania z wielu alternatywnych środków transportu w zależności od swoich potrzeb i możliwości. W publikacji omówiono kluczowe pojęcia związane ze zrównoważoną mobilnością wraz z wyjaśnieniem ich pochodzenia. Umiejscowiono je w krajowym i europejskim prawodawstwie wraz ze wskazaniem podmiotów odpowiedzialnych za realizację poszczególnych działań. Omówiono też najważniejsze koncepcje urbanistyczne sprzyjające zrównoważonej mobilności wraz z szeroką analizą studiów przypadku z Polski, Europy i świata. Osobny rozdział poświęcono analizie ludzkich zachowań i czynników, które skłaniają osoby do wyboru środka transportu. Dokładnie przeanalizowano także możliwości, charakterystyki i ograniczenia poszczególnych sposobów przemieszczania się: od najdroższych i najbardziej spektakularnych kolei podziemnych i naziemnych, poprzez tramwaje, autobusy, ruch rowerowy aż po ruch pieszy. W publikacji można przeczytać także o najciekawszych sposobach promowania zrównoważonej mobilności.

W publikacji można przeczytać także o najciekawszych sposobach promowania zrównoważonej mobilności.

Abstract (EN)
Cities for people. Sustainable mobility in spatial planning — discussing the complex interdependencies between transport and spatial development policies. Most of the major urban planning concepts are based on solving the problems of transport. The way we plan our cities directly influences the modal split in them. In Poland, however, we tend to separate town and transport planning. Sustainable development of cities and regions can take place only when we provide sufficient conditions for effective and low-carbon transportation in and around them. Such an approach requires deep cooperation between different levels of governing bodies, including those with very different areas of competence.
A well-planned area with high accessibility of public services and other amenities reduces the number of unnecessary journeys. Insightful planning reduces overall congestion and excessive crowding in public transport services. Such an area offers the residents freedom of choosing multiple modes of transport that fit their abilities and needs. Cities for people. Sustainable mobility in spatial planning offers the theoretical insight and multiple case studies on the interdependences between mobility and planning. Authors of the publication discuss the key concepts and ideas connected to sustainable mobility, as well as their origins. They take a practical approach in explaining the concepts illustrating them with multiple case studies from Poland, Europe, and from all around the world. The publication also contains a screening of European and national legislation regarding the implementation of sustainable mobility policies.
It also specifies the areas of competence in implementing them. A separate chapter is devoted to the analysis of how human psychology and different environmental factors influence mobility behaviour. The possibilities, characteristics and limitations of different modes of transportation were also analysed. This includes the most expensive and elaborate urban railway systems as well as trams, buses, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic. A variety of good practices in promoting sustainable mobility are discussed as well. Cities, villages, districts and neighbourhoods all have their own dynamic and never form complete projects. As time moves on, new trends in mobility arise. To keep up with the dynamic environment, the local authorities need to be a step forward. That is why the authors pay a great deal of attention to describing the adaptation capabilities. A complex approach to mobility in spatial planning leads to designing urban spaces that succeed financially, fulfil the social needs and develop in a way that does not harm the environment.
