dc.abstract.enMuch attention is paid to studying metal surface modification by short-pulse laser radiation to create hydrophilic and hydrophobic laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS). LIPSS structure can play a significant role in forming the strength of the connection layers when creating multilayer composite materials end cermets sandwich structures. The problem is that hydrophilic surfaces are formed on steels, as a rule, immediately after irradiation, and hydrophobic ones only after a long time – from 17 to 50 days. Therefore, there is a need for an accessible surface control method for the operational control of changes in hydrophobic properties over time. It invented a new LIPSS structure recognition method of sliding the reflection of a helium-neon laser beam. It is shown that the method can be effectively used to qualitatively determine the change in the LIPSS surface structure with time based on the change in the structure of the scattered laser radiation.
